Hello! I am Sara, and I am a Guinea Pig Whisperer! If you’ve just discovered my little Piggie Rescue, I’m sure you’ve deciphered by now that I am utterly and completely in love with these little creatures!
Cheeky Wheekies
Cheeky Wheekies began in the fall of 2023 when I took in a small group of sick and abandoned guinea pigs and nursed them back to health before finding them a happy home.The joy it brought to me encouraged me to do it again..and again..and again. Soon it turned into a full-fledged facility with the capability of housing and caring for up to 60 guinea pigs at a time, including a Sanctuary for senior pigs, as well as hairless guinea pigs. As of January 2025 we have rehomed over 75 guinea pigs.
Sara’s Background
I have an extensive background in both rescue work with multiple Humane Societies and rescues, as well as former employment as a veterinary technician. Experience in training in both areas is extremely helpful in caring not only for the healthy guinea pigs but also the sick and injured that arrive on occasion.
I also have a former stint with a major retail pet store chain, which was the main inspiration for me to start my guinea pig rescue. After seeing firsthand the fate that almost always befalls animals that are sold in pet stores, I was inspired more than ever by the “adopt don’t shop mentality”. I vowed from there to educate anyone within earshot of the proper care of small pets so that they not only survive, but thrive.
